Beirut have returned with their new album Gallipoli, which they released on February 1st via 4AD. Last night the band kicked off their tour in support of the new album with a sold out performance at Brooklyn Steel. This was the first of three sold out shows in Brooklyn, with the other Brooklyn Steel performance taking place tonight and a much more intimate performance at Music Hall of Williamsburg later this week.

Last night was their first performance together in two years and their first time performing the new songs off of Gallipoli with an audience which made it all the more special to be in attendance. The setlist was full of the new material but also complimented nicely with their ever-expansive catalog of familiar material such as “Postcards From Italy,” “After the Curtain,” “Scenic World” and “The Gulag Orkestar.”

Frontman Zach Condon had some fun banter shared with the surprisingly chatty crowd, who was clearly enthused to see the band back in action.
