Day Joy is the project of Orlando-based songwriter, Michael Serrin, who originally wrote and recorded his sleepy melodic songs to help his partner sleep through episodic night terrors. In 2013 Serrin released his debut album Go To Sleep, Mess. After one year of touring in support of the album, the band disassembled after the tragic death of Serrin’s younger brother.

It understandably took Serrin four years to return to making music but Serrin has returned with new album Great Satan, Mass Appeal that “chronicles those troubled years walking the fine line between despondency and dimly-lit revelation.”

“Not Anymore” is the first track shared from the album and it’s as beautiful and moving as one would expect. The track has an old school quality to it that fits the sad melancholic nature.

Here’s what Serrin had to say about the song.

It’s taken me a while to pick up the pieces and the album chronicling the past 5 years is expectedly dark. However, I do think those who have been to the brink will find some value in the lyrics and peace in the instrumentation. At least, that is my goal.”
