If you don’t know the name Yola, it’s ok, it’s only a matter of time until that is corrected. Yola’s journey has taken her from living homeless on the streets of London, to joining Massive Attack, opening for James Brown and then to Dan Auerbach’s Nashville recording studio where he co-wrote and produced her album with old school session players.
Her debut album Walk Through Fire will be out on February 22 via Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label and today we have her fantastic single “Ride Out In The Country.”
There’s just a naturality to her voice that absolutely fills your heart and the easy-going country vibe feels natural to her voice and a perfect pairing with the songwriting and production talents of Auerbach who clearly has help steer her in the right direction with this fantastic offering. This song just puts you at ease and in a good headspace, which is a compliment of the highest order.
