Legendary English punk rockers The Damned returned with their new album Evil Spirits earlier this year and are currently on tour in support of it, which brought them to New York on October 18 for a sold out performance at Irving Plaza.

This was my first time getting to see the band in action and although they are up there in age, they still delivered the sort of firey performance that bands half of their age could only dream of. Captain Sensible was a firey presence from the very minute he took the stage, a perfect pairing with singer Dave Vanian who confidently commanded the stage. The sold out crowd was with the band every step of the way, enjoying the band’s rousing renditions of classics such as “Love Song,” “New Rose,” and of course, “Neat Neat Neat.”
