Hailing from Austin, Texas, Fanclub is an indie trio featuring Leslie Crunkilton, Mike Lee, and Daniel Schmidt.
The band began when Lee wanted to infuse everything that he loved in music: catchy guitars, dreamy synths, dancey electro beats. He grew up a fan of the likes of Liz Phair, The Breeders, and Bjork, and realized that Crunkilton’s vocals would be the driving force behind his band, along with Schmidt behind the drumkit.
You can see these influences and goals come to fruition in winning fashion on their debut single “Leaves,” a track that feels indebted to a lot of great 80s indie rock and giving their own fresh energy to make it feel new again.
