Like many great artists, Kishi Bashi is worth seeing every time he performs live as every single show and tour is different from the last. Even if the set-up is similar, Bashi always brings a new fresh approach to each and every song that are rearranged to fit that particular moment in time.

He performed a special show on July 12 at Le Poisson Rouge (as a part of the venue’s LPR X celebration) with the Ensemble LPR Double String Quartet that added a whole new layer to his performance along with Bashi’s partner in crime Tall Tall Trees on bass/Banjotron. They performed a flurry of old favorites from throughout Bashi’s discography, as well as a few new songs that will tie in on a documentary Bashi is currently working on, as well as Bashi’s well-received covers of The Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)” and Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Only Living Boy in New York.”

It was yet another fantastic and unforgettabin storeormance from Bashi and we can’t wait to see what he has instore the next time he returns to us here in New York.
