The Horrors have steadily made a name for themselves as an always reliable force of consistency, rising way above the NME buzz band ranks that once defined them so early in their career. It’s been a pleasant surprise to see how far the band have come from their punkier gothic days, now a band that explores the depths and possibilities of synths and electronica along with moments of their raw days of rock but also moments that sound like a blissful dream.

This fall they released their fifth record to date, the aptly titled V, which was released via Wolf Tone/Caroline International. It’s another step-forward for the band in many ways and meant to be heard in the biggest format of all: live in person.

It had been three years since we last saw The Horrors perform and we have been eagerly anticipating their return. They brought the album to life in all its glory on September 18, where they played the first of two sold out shows at Rough Trade NYC. The band sounded as tight as ever, fully bringing these songs to life in a colorful and powerful fashion.
