90s alt-rockers Veruca Salt returned to New York this summer for a performance at Webster Hall. This was a return trip for the group, who have been reunited for a year now with their original lineup. So serious is this reunion that Veruca Salt went in the studio and recorded a brand new album titled Ghost Notes that was released on July 10 via El Camino Records

I caught them last year at the slightly smaller Bowery Ballroom and was more than happy to go for another round at Webster Hall. With songs both new and old, the band was ready to delight their fans as if they had never left. The reunited quartet of Louise Post, Nina Gordon, Jim Shaprio, and Steve Lack sounded just as sharp as they did at Bowery, if not more so with plenty of shows under their belt during this tour. Their new material meshed quite well alongside well established 90s classics like “Forsythia,” “Spiderman ’79,” and of course, “Seether.”

The group had their differences in the past, but it seems like this reunion isn’t just a quick cash grab. Seeing Post and Gordon smiling while hitting dual notes makes me believe that the group is back, and for the long haul.
