Franz Ferdinand came out and delivered one of the most genuine exciting and fun sets that I have seen all summer. After Lollapalooza was postponed due to severe weather, one’s mood could have been easily ruined. However, when Franz Ferdinand come along and play classics like “The Dark Of The Matinée” “Take Me Out”, it’s hard not to let loose and take it all in.

The new songs sounded solid, furthering the synth/dance influence that they played with on Tonight: Franz Ferdinand. But the band is at their best when they turn the clocks back and hit hard with their earlier stuff. Nothing beats the fiery assertion of “Michael”, and I can’t picture a more just closer than “Fire”.

The band haven’t lost any of the spark that they first subjected us to with “Take Me Out”, and it’s amazing just how sharp these guys sound live. They put on my favorite performance of the weekend, and will surely take up my time the next time they stop in NYC.
